3 Days Mount Meru Climb

3 Days Mount Meru Climb
Momella Route 3 Days Armed ranger included
Mount Meru Package

Tanzania's second-highest peak, climbed the short way — ideal on its own or as Kilimanjaro prep.

Mount Meru rises just north of Arusha and is climbed via the Momella Route, sleeping in mountain huts rather than tents. This 3-day version is a genuine trek, not a technical climb, with an armed ranger for the wildlife on the lower slopes and real summit-night effort near the top.

3 Days Mount Meru Climb — Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need climbing experience?
No. Meru is a trek, not a technical climb — fitness and a slow pace on summit night matter far more than prior experience.
Why is an armed ranger required?
The lower slopes are inside Arusha National Park, home to buffalo, giraffe and other wildlife, so a park ranger accompanies every group for the first stretch of the route.
Is this good preparation for Kilimanjaro?
Yes — many climbers do Meru a few days before Kilimanjaro specifically for the acclimatisation, since it takes you above 4,500m in just two to three days.
