A relaxed, later start than our park day trips — Chemka Hot Springs (also known as the Kikuletwa Springs) sit around an hour and a half from Arusha, on the way toward Moshi.
Chemka is a natural spring-fed pool, strikingly clear and turquoise, shaded by fig trees whose roots reach down into the water along the banks. There's no game viewing here — it's simply a swim, and one of the most photogenic natural pools in northern Tanzania.
A relaxed lunch either at the springs or on the way back, with time to swim, float, or simply sit under the trees before the drive back to Arusha in the afternoon.
